The spread of the NewIslam, the increase of journalism, the political ambitionsof Pan-Islamism, and the march of civilization are alluniting to produce a desire for higher education. Yetwhile there are seven American mission colleges in theTurkish empire, not including Egypt, Persia, with a pop-ulation of ten million, has not a single missionary college.-^Mr. Jordan writes: For some years past the Persian Government has ^Methods of Mission Work Among Moslems, 109. ^S.
