(Fasces waren das Amtssymbol der höchsten Machthaber des Römischen Reiches und sie symbolisierten deren geballte Macht und Gerichtsbarkeit; sie wurden diesen von ihren Amtsdienern (Liktoren) vorangetragen, weshalb sie auch Liktorenbündel genannt werden)

(The fasces were an ancient Roman symbols of the authority of magistrates and they are traditionally symbolizing summary power and jurisdiction and strength through unity)
