جون غيبون (بالإنجليزية: John Gibbon)‏ هو ضابط أمريكي، ولد في 20 أبريل 1827 في فيلادلفيا في الولايات المتحدة، وتوفي في 6 فبراير 1896 في بالتيمور في الولايات المتحدة.^[1]^[2]^[3]

According to Alan and Maureen Gaff, Gibbon's father dropped the "s" from the end of his surname around the time of his 18th birthday and prior to his marriage to Catharine Lardner. However, Gibbon's biographers Dennis Lavery and Mark Jordan maintain the Gibbons spelling throughout their study when referring to General Gibbon's parents.
